Atomic XAFS as a Probe of Charge Redistribution within Organometallic Complexes

ثبت نشده
چکیده

The Atomic XAFS contributions in the Pt L2,3 X-ray absorption fine structure spectra (XAFS) of [PtCl(NCN)-Z] pincer complexes are shown to be a sensitive probe of changes in the electron density on the Pt atom induced by changes in a para-substituent on the neighboring benzene ring. Such electron density information is similar yet complementary to NMR data. These complexes provide a unique system for examining inductive effects on the AXAFS data, since the geometry around the Pt atom remains unchanged. The results presented here validate the AXAFS technique and the AXAFS theoretical interpretation in particular. The isolation of the AXAFS data from the oscillatory part of the XAFS spectrum is extensively described. The different effects on the AXAFS shape and intensity are shown and discussed in detail.

Synthesis, Molecular Docking and Cytotoxic Activity Evaluation of Organometallic Thiolated Gold(I) Complexes

The complex [(PhCH2NC)AuCl], 1, was prepared by the reaction of [(Me2S)AuCl], A, with an equimolar amount of benzyl isocyanide (PhCH2NC) ligand. Through a salt metathesis reaction, the chloride ligand in 1 was replaced by potassium benzothiazole-2-thiolate (Kbt) and potassium benzoimidazole-2-thiolate (Kbi) to a...

Elements of XAFS

Introduction Over the last two decades X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS) spectroscopy has emerged as an incisive probe of the local structure around selected atomic species in solids, liquids, and molecular gases. Foremost among its strengths are its applicability to amorphous materials and its \tunability" { the ability to probe the environments of di erent elements in the sample by selec...

XAFS Measurement System in the Soft X-Ray Region for Various Sample Conditions and Multipurpose Measurements

An X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectroscopy is a powerful and useful technique to probe the local electronic structure and the local atomic structure around an absorbing atom in an unknown material [Stöhr, 1996, Ohta, 2002]. A highly bright X-ray source, synchrotron radiation (SR) is usually used for XAFS measurements to obtain reliable spectra, even for elements of very low content ...

Charge-transfer excitation of molecular complexes in organic and organometallic chemistry

Electron donor-acceptor or EDA complexes are common precursors leading to a variety of organic and organometallic reactions, as indicated by the ubiquitous appearance of characteristic charge-transfer absorption bands. Structural effects of HOMO-LUMO interactions extant in donor-acceptor pairs, established by X-ray crystallography, are critical to the charge-tranfer excitation of various types ...
